Call for Abstracts

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS CLOSED NOW, THANK YOU ALL FOR SUBMITTING YOUR ABSTRACT(S)

Academics, operators, public officials and professionals in the waste industry are invited to submit an abstract in English before October 30th, 2011 November 30^th, 2011, to participate in the World Solid Waste Congress. Contributions will be selected for either oral presentations or posters. Accepted contributions will be published in the proceedings of the Congress with an ISBN number.

Twelve papers will be selected for peer review in the world’s leading waste science journal Waste Management & Research and published worldwide plus handed out at the Congress as a special issue of the journal. Click here for the authors guidelines for papers to be published in WM&R.

Abstracts are invited for the following themes/topics:

General Themes

• Climate Change and Waste Management
• Zero Waste and Waste Prevention Policies
• International Waste Trade
• Economically Developing Countries
• Specific Waste Crises
• Recycling of specific waste streams and final residue management
• Management and impact of urban hygiene in cities

*Please mark your abstract with a specific topic number

Abstract Submission Requirements:

1. Language: English
2. Presentation title
3. Special topic number
4. Names of all the authors, organization, address and contact information (including e-mail)
5. Size: maximum of 500 words and no tables, figures and/or diagrams
6. Indicate if you wish to present the paper as an oral presentation, as a poster and if you wish to be considered for peer review in the WM&R scientific journal.

Instructions:

1. Completed abstract forms must be received no later than October 30th, 2011 November 30^th, 2011.
2. Online submission using the Congress website is essential.
3. Abstracts not conforming to the abstract submission requirements will not be forwarded for peer review.
4. Each primary author must also submit a brief biography (max. 100 words) with the abstract.
5. Receipt of abstract will be acknowledged immediately.
6. All participants must register for the Congress in order to be accepted as speakers and poster presenters, unless invited.
7. Notification of acceptance/rejection will be not later than January 10, 2012.

Delegates will be invited to vote for the five best poster presentations made during the Congress. Each awardee will be recognised with a Certificate and prize.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by referees assigned by the Scientific Steering Committee for acceptance or rejection.

By submitting your abstract, you are hereby authorizing the Congress organizers to publish your abstract and full paper in the Congress proceedings.

Important Dates:

• Abstract submission: 30 October 2011 30 November 2011
• Notification of acceptance/rejection: 10 January 2012
• Full paper for journal publication: 28 February 2012
• Full paper for proceedings only: 30 April 2012
• Registration for early birds: 31 May 2012
